BS 5839 servicing

Servicing & maintenance

Six-monthly and annual servicing for every make and model, with plain-English reports your insurer will accept.

Why regular servicing matters

BS 5839-1 recommends that fire alarm systems are inspected and serviced by a competent person at least every six months. As the Responsible Person under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, you need to be able to show your system is properly maintained, and a missed service can put your insurance cover at risk.

We make it easy: we book your visits, remind you when they're due, and send an engineer who knows your building.

What's included on every visit

  • Visual inspection of all devices
  • Functional testing of detectors
  • Manual call point testing (rotated)
  • Sounder & beacon checks
  • Battery testing & replacement
  • Panel diagnostics & event log review
  • Cause-and-effect testing
  • Logbook update & service certificate

Service plans

Standard: six-monthly visits, with any parts quoted at our preferred rates. Right for most commercial premises.

Comprehensive: six-monthly visits with parts and labour included, plus priority response. Ideal for care homes, HMOs and buildings with a heavy compliance load.

Annual: a single yearly visit for smaller systems where that's appropriate.

24/7 cover for everyone. Whatever plan you're on, or if you're not on one at all, our emergency line is open day and night on 07835 903 856.
