Domestic & HMO
Mains-powered, interlinked smoke and heat alarms for homes, and Grade A systems for HMOs, with the certificates landlords need.
Homes
For most homes, a Grade D1 or D2 system is the right fit: mains-powered smoke and heat alarms with a backup battery, all linked together so they sound at once. We fit them neatly and tidily, to BS 5839-6.
HMO & landlord requirements
Houses in Multiple Occupation need to meet BS 5839-6 (often a Grade A system for larger licensed HMOs) plus any local licensing conditions, which can go further than the standard. We install, maintain and certify systems to the requirements your council will accept.
- Licensed HMO compliance
- Article 4 direction areas
- Selective licensing schemes
- Grade A LD1/LD2 systems
- Fire door inspection & replacement
Grades at a glance
Grade D1 / D2: mains-powered, interlinked alarms with a built-in (D1) or replaceable (D2) backup battery. The usual choice for owner-occupied homes and smaller rentals.
Grade A: a full panel-based system with detectors, sounders and manual call points. Common in larger licensed HMOs.
LD1 / LD2 / LD3: how much of the property is covered. LD1 covers escape routes and every room where a fire could start, LD2 covers escape routes plus higher-risk rooms, and LD3 covers escape routes only.
