Accessibility
statement.
We want this site to work for everyone. If something gets in your way, please tell us — that's how it gets fixed.
This statement applies to the Coastal Fire Systems website at coastalfiresystems.co.uk. It was last reviewed on 10 October 2026.
Our commitment
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We believe the site partially meets this standard: we've designed and checked it with accessibility in mind, but it hasn't yet had an independent audit (see "Known issues" below).
What we have in place
Keyboard navigation
Every page can be used with a keyboard alone. Links, buttons, form fields, the mobile menu, the FAQ answers and the callback form can all be reached with Tab and used with Enter or Space. The mobile menu and callback form close with the Escape key, and focus returns to the button that opened them.
Visible focus
A clear outline appears around whatever has keyboard focus, in our brand red (#B91C1C), which contrasts with the white background at more than 6:1.
Colour contrast
Body text is near-black (#2B2522) on white, a contrast ratio of about 15:1. Secondary and muted text, buttons and labels are all at least 4.5:1, the WCAG AA level for normal text. Colour is never the only way information is shown.
Skip link and page structure
A "Skip to main content" link appears when you first press Tab. Pages use proper landmarks (header, navigation, main content, footer), one main heading per page and a logical heading order. Breadcrumbs are marked up as navigation.
Images and the coverage map
Meaningful images have text alternatives, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers. The coverage map has a text description, and everything it shows is also available as text — in the "Areas we cover" lists and the postcode checker on the same page.
Forms and messages
Every form field has a visible label. Required fields are marked, and success and error messages are announced to screen readers. You never have to use a form — every page shows our phone numbers, and our email address is in the footer.
Motion
On larger screens, the home page has a gentle ember effect behind the main heading. You can stop it with the pause button in the bottom-left corner of that section, and it never runs on phones or tablets. Small pulsing indicators stop by themselves after a few seconds. If your device is set to "reduce motion", the ember effect and entrance animations are switched off.
Zoom and text size
The site uses flexible layouts and relative text sizes, so you can zoom up to 200% (or 400% on narrower screens) without losing content or having to scroll sideways.
Known issues
- Our forms use hCaptcha to stop spam. Some people find captcha checks hard to complete. hCaptcha offers an accessibility option, but if it doesn't work for you, please call us on 01903 771 949 or email info@coastal-fire-systems.co.uk instead.
- The site hasn't yet had an independent audit against WCAG 2.2 AA. We plan to arrange one.
